Coding, decoding and recoding the FENDI formula: FF logo, Pequin stripes, FENDI stamp, FENDI yellow are explored, exploded, spliced, collaged. This way and that way. Intarsia and gheronatura are brought on sportier ground: workmanship as another FENDI mark.
Luggage is on the conveyor belt, comfy shoes are on, comfy clothes too. In the suitcase, carry on, or simply on: roomy intarsia blousons, square jackets, ultrasound duvets; lounge suits, rubber anoraks, intarsia sweatshirts; striped shirts, glazed coats.

In a world where Italian Futurism meets tropical travel, the FENDI Spring/Summer 2018 Collection emerges in a swirl of Caribbean color and flavor.
Shades of ocean blue wash against seafoam green, coral pink and sand, as the silhouette drapes off the shoulder, nips at the waist and blooms into full skirts.
In a graphic play of diaphanous layers, the symmetry of stripes and checkerboard patterns is seen throughout: bowling shirts become organza blouses, and rugby polos or cable knits warp over candy striped knickers and bras.
Denim trench coats and cool poplin tops reveal shoulders and scrunch at the hip, as striped silk denim and pinstriped cotton skirts hug the waist high. Nude sequin separates shimmer as moments of craft unfurl in delicate fern leaf broderie anglaise, beaded organza philodendron and palm leaves, floral leather marquetry and fur floating on silk chiffon.
On foot, pointed mesh flats and pumps come adorned with tartan beading, surf straps and a rattan heel, whilst stocking boots collage the double F logo with Futurist florals.
The Spring/Summer 2018 marks the first appearance on the catwalk of the Mon Trésor bag, a mini bucket presented in luxurious exotic leather festooned with metallic pearls, and the new Runaway tote in transparent tartan mesh with rounded rattan handles.
The Kan I F bag returns trimmed in raffia fringes and worn with leafy suede Strap You handles. Monkey, banana and Bao-bug logo charms accent the Collection’s tropical feel.

It’s the morning after the night before.
The FENDI muse for the Fall/Winter 2017-18 Collection emerges at dawn: a cinematic character pacing the streets of Rome. Framing her free spirit, the graphic heritage of FENDI rises to the fore. Geometric patterns are inspired by Viennese woodblock printing and 18th century Italian papiers dominotés, which come to life in an array of mosaic techniques, from cut-out knitwear to marquetry furs and acanthus leaf-printed silk. Colours exude autumnal warmth: from carmine red like sealing wax to camel, cobalt and petrol blue, optic white or palest blush pink, they highlight the Collection’s decorative, modern hand.
Codes of fine craftsmanship abound – a nipped waist is tucked with a giant ‘X’ appliqué, hemlines are framed in a bold topstitch and encrusted tulle stripes frame collars and cuffs. In felt cashmere, patent leather, Prince of Wales checks and herringbone wools, tailoring is cut with a double shoulder – from a structured plane it drops to create new volumes. That doubled effect evolves throughout as interlocking and overlapping sartorial textiles, FENDI ‘double F’ logo-trims and a layered exercise of cotton shirting and soft A-line skirts. It continues through transparency: sheer dresses are constructed in diamond ruched tulle whilst embroidered spirograph daisies and organza florals embellish long-sleeved gowns, both underpinned with the season’s patent red cuissard boots inset with elastic ribbing.
The Fall/Winter 2017-18 runway show debuts the new Run Away double handle box bag in two tone nappa leather and inlaid python, while the Baguette, Peekaboo and Kan I bags appear in an opulent array of striped python, ‘double F’ logo print and patchwork velvet, striped mink and leather fringe. They are paired with interchangeable Strap You shoulder straps in shaggy fur, jewelled velvet and cut-out autumnal flowers.

In the Spring/Summer 2016 Collection, the encounter/clash of opposites, a quintessential trait of the FENDI lexicon is pushed to quiet extremes, between irony and sophistication, classic and experimental, drawing an image of controlled yet palpable sensuality. The constant tension between the organic and synthetic, natural and technical, celebrates the wabi-sabi beauty of perfect imperfection.
The silhouette is soft and de-structured. Polo-shirts, t-shirts and trousers are the staples of a modular wardrobe made of iconic items rethought in textures and volumes. Tailored jackets have a cropped, narrow line in contrast with the slouchy ease of the trousers. The quest for decoration – orientalist motifs, flowery swarms – is hidden under layers of dye which create visual amalgamation, the result being barely perceptible. In the typical FENDI way, craft is pushed to the limits: rubberized shading python, as the denim and over-dyed lurex. Shirts and jumpsuits are made of a leather that has a striking liquidity.
The appeal of the inorganic translates into textures: pixilated granite motifs and ceramic effects are amplified by the clean, precise shapes. Metal is a sign of punctuation in the button covers and Selleria stitches, giving to the Collection a somewhat robotic touch. Easy volumes and functional details suggest metropolitan adaptability.
The overall look is clear and unfussy: a urban uniform for the soulful city dweller.
Tones of blue, grey, black, mud and brick are mixed in the somber yet sensual color palette. Fabrics are comfortable and firm: spongy jersey, denim, silk, cotton.
Shoppers and intarsia backpacks, where the renowned Bag Bugs eyes of the Maison appear in an evil yet ironic version, Selleria bags with metal stitches characterize the accessories of the next Spring/Summer season, together with python visors and sturdy canvas or suede work shoes with thick rubber soles.

The FENDI Men’s Fall/Winter 2015-16 Collection is tailored for an urban dreamer. He enjoys freedom. He is restless, also during his lunch break. All he needs is a blanket to rest on, an apple to eat, a soccer ball to play, a bag to carry the kit. Oh, and a park, but of course, no matter how big.
The collection merges lightness and precision, and features the staples of the masculine wardrobe interpreted in the FENDI way – deceiving the senses while pushing craft to the limits. As ever, the focus is on texture: what looks like corduroy is in fact sheepskin or leather, while pinstripes are laser-cut 3d motifs and regimental stripes turn into intarsia; suede morphs halfway through into calf. From afar, everything looks familiar, but at a closer inspection it generates surprise.
The silhouette is soft and comfortable, all straight lines and rounded shoulders. Suits have boxy jackets and trousers that flare at the hem, while coats are sharp and exact. Tweed and club stripes pay homage to tradition but in untraditional ways. Protection characterizes outerwear. A graphic sense of clothing as sum of parts is conveyed through contrast pockets on boxy jumpers and utilitarian slacks, or geometric applications on duvets. Utility is paramount: suede coats can be folded into zippered pouches or are completely reversible, blankets are in fact scarves and feature roomy pockets.
Tones of grey, blue, milk and tobacco build up the classic color palette. Fabrics are dense and tactile: felt, corduroy, tweeds, suede, sheepskin, mohair and shetland.
Accessories are sturdy loafers with fur inserts and felt shoppers or backpacks with straps to hold blankets. The new apple and smiley furry bag charms surprise with an ironic touch.
