VERSACE FALL WINTER 2017-18 MEN’S COLLECTION – MILAN FASHION WEEK
The brotherhood of Versace – the strength of individuals, the power of unity. Pride in identity, the coming together of clans, and the sense of belonging from new archetypes for a male wardrobe. Outerwear includes long, knitted coats that wrap the body, or sharply tailored coats that are held by belts to dramatize the silhouette.
Prints throughout are like mark-making, as if the hand-painted pattern of an ancient tribe. The prints unify and blend the collection between formal and casual. Nylon trenches have light yet dynamic volume, with double-length belts to hold and exaggerate their elegant fluidity.
Photographic prints of classical sculptures are collaged with images of hardware, symbolising the idealistic beauty of male power through the ages. Shearling coats bring the survival instincts of the wilds to the city, while plaid shirts are rugged for the urban landscape. Positive words of hope are embroidered on the chest of shirts and nylon zip-ups, with hidden messages of affirmation also sewn inside coats to embolden the wearer.
The pattern and beauty of African textiles are found in jacquard coats that are woven like blankets, or graphic sweaters that were proudly knitted by hand. The Versace suit is refreshed and lightened: the strong silhouette is now neat to the body, with a soft constructed shoulder for the way men wear tailoring today.
Hiking sneakers punctuate the silhouette with their energising shape, often mixing traditional shoe detailing with a technical sole. Empire bags have been hand-painted in the marks of the collection, while the new Palladian bag is neat, compact and versatile. The V-Extreme Pro watch brings the rugged outdoors into the urban environment, while a special edition of the Dylos with grey stone or total black is sleek for the city.
“This is a collection about the different tribes of Versace men, and the powerful positivity that can happen when men from different places, different cultures join together.” Donatella Versace

LES HOMMES FALL WINTER 2017-18 MEN’S COLLECTION – MILAN FASHION WEEK
The new Les Hommes collection takes the world of aviation right into late 70′s Punk. For Fall Winter 2017/18, creative directors Tom Notte and Bart Vandebosch outline a precise trajectory that brings two apparently distant universes together through constant references of inspirations.
Contemporary young men flaunt inverted triangle silhouettes. Large shearling collars increase the volumes on shoulders, while a skillful layering bestows vigor and thickness to outerwear, subsequently slimming down reaching rigorously skinny trousers.
Multi-material jacquard suits feature all-over prints inspired by aeronautical badges, decorated with removable straps borrowed from parachutes for a rebellious and urban touch. The spotlight is on outerwear. Shiny details and zippers stand out on shearling and military bomber jackets.
Coats often come printed with a couture overlaying that shows an almost imperceptible camouflage jacquard. Abundant metallic embroideries and studs enliven and brighten the more strict looks. Noteworthy is the comeback of knitwear with heavy extra-large wool sweaters and trousers feature long johns reinterpreted for the outerwear through a thick Milano stitch jacquard.
The color palette is precise and sharp: the total black tone of the collection only allows the incursions of red and blue shades. Accessories include fur lined aviator hats, leather long gloves to wear pulled down and aviator sunglasses. Silver studded military boots finish the look.

The show we present in London Menswear fashion week is for man and woman. A lucky young woman, she comes from a privileged part of thè world where she’s been well cared for by loving parents. She’s intellectual, artistic, and adventurous. Let’s hope thè bloke had thè same chance in life. They love our clothes; we’re a high fashion company – a happy company. It’s skilled, labour intensive, rather artisan; one of its features is that through our cutting principles we mass produce clothes that look couture. She and he are having fun with Unisex and swapping clothes. ‘Buy less, choose well, make it last’ limits thè exploitation of thè planet’s naturai resources. He and she have joined Intellectuals Unite (IOU) and are becoming ever more scared of Climate Change. Our hair stands on end. We wear a paper crown. Who are our rulers? We don’t accept thè rule of thè million, we want people power / democratic rule. We want a responsible govemment, responsible to people, not only responsible to banks and conglomerate monopolies. Stop Climate Change.#VWAW1718
