“URBAN NINJA”
The uniforms of Japanese ninjas served as inspiration for Diesel Black Gold creative director Andreas Melbostad, who reworked iconic Diesel Black Gold staples with new shapes and proportions infused with an urban combat mood. The mysterious, enigmatic attitude of Far East’ covert agents and mercenaries informed the look influenced by the intriguing Japanese martial arts.
Kimonos, with their iconic belts and wrapped silhouettes, strongly echo in many of the pieces, such as nylon bombers, leather and denim tunics, as well as hybrids of leather biker jackets and coats. The ninja inspiration continues in the range of cropped pants. Tie belts and applied pockets give a functional aspect to their look. Robe belts wrap the waist, while sartorial blazers show ninja snap closures.
Diesel Black Gold’s signature industrial attitude is celebrated with the oversized parkas with exaggerated hoodies. Leather jackets are embellished with Japanese monograms. The ninja-inspired look also informs the women’s capsule collection, which is launched on the men’s fall catwalk. The focus is on the hips with tie-belts cinching a leather dress, as well as a tunic crafted from denim with quilted nylon inserts.
The feminine attitude of short plissé pinafore dresses is empowered through the insertion of industrial metallic hardware, layered onto printed shirts. Silhouette is inspired by the kimono design. Japan’s denim tradition meet the brand’s upscale skills in the jeans, which feature a mix and match of fabrics, such as quilted nylon, as well as embroideries of Japanese monograms and symbols.
Ninja boots and biker boots complete both the men’s and women’s outfits. The contemporary, dynamic collections offer a dynamic, urban take on the ninja look with a captivating blend of Western and Eastern references.

DIESEL BLACK GOLD FALL WINTER 2016-17 MEN’S COLLECTION – MILAN FASHION WEEK
Urban bike messengers served as inspiration for creative director Andreas Melbostad to design Diesel Black Gold Fall/Winter 2016 collection. A renegade, rebellious spirit informs the attitude of the lineup, which finds an ideal backdrop in an industrial, urban setting.
References to bike messengers’ functional and practical outfits echo in the collection, where cycling pants and the new “double trousers,” consisting of shorts stitched with narrow-cut styles, are topped with pieces cut in generous volumes for bold silhouettes.
Everything is infused with a utilitarian feel adding a more elegant, metropolitan attitude to the collection. Shirts show outwear-inspired details, such as zippers, straps and mock necks. These are layered under the hybrid outwear pieces.
The season’s iconic capes incorporate some of Diesel Black Gold’s most signature staples, including bombers, field jackets and parkas. Leather and inside-out shearling biker jackets come also cut in oversized shapes. Elongated nylon vests are worn over jackets, which reveal ribbed knits or jersey sweatshirts with nylon quilted inserts.
Bike messengers’ equipment also inspires the accessories range, featuring leather pouches to wrap around the arm and padded cross body bags. Leather combat boots with zippers enhance the sharp, strong attitude of the collection.

Juxtaposition. A new aesthetic sensibility emerges from the combination of contrasting elements incorporated under the fearless, assertive aesthetic of Diesel Black Gold.
For the brand’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection, creative director Andreas Melbostad portrayed a powerful, confident woman, who feels free to unveil her feminine side in a bold and courageous manner.
Putting the accent on her innate duality, strong utilitarian references are incorporated into a range of leather pieces and exalted by the use of metal hardware juxtaposed to delicate, soft lingerie influences in her diverse wardrobe.
Creating an intriguing game of seduction, a camisole is built into a fluid crepe cadi dress which, constructed with floating panels held together by industrial metal details, reveal a slip dress trimmed with lace.
Layering is key in the definition of each piece. Sweaters, showing off chunky ribbed patterns , feature side-slits, cropped cuts and low necklines allowing lace camisoles and crepe de Chine slip dresses to peek out for a sexy, confident mood.
Creating a contrast with the lean silhouettes of skirts and dresses, Melbostad upped the volume in outerwear, focusing on shoulders. Super squared or hyper rounded, these echo an Eighties’ feel in oversized wool felt blazers, merino shearling jackets and Herringbone coats.
The same mood informs the tailored power suits, showing boxy jackets worn over ribbed knits and matched with wool skirts and trousers. Their geometric and sharp shapes emphasize the collection’s resolutely confident attitude.
Exploring new feminine territories, the five pocket jeans are worked in denim brocade and damask jacquard motifs with deep hues of indigo blue and black, combined with contrasting pops of color when feeling bold and daring.
Graphic shapes give a strong attitude to accessories. Beauty bucket case-inspired bag squared double straped and top handle bags, worked in leather or suede, are embellished with studs and metallic discs. These appear as decorative elements on leather belts, which also come in webbing and leather versions wrapped around the torso for a utilitarian look.
Blending together different, contrasting forces, the collection blurs out a fine line of strength and fragility, toughness and delicacy, conjuring up a very singular and unique look for the woman of today.

DIESEL BLACK GOLD FALL WINTER 2015-16 MEN’S COLLECTION – MILANO FASHION WEEK

For Diesel Black Gold’s Fall-Winter 2015 collection, creative director Andreas Melbostad conjured up a singular look inspired by the different, contrasting forces behind the multifarious British tradition.
References to England’s impeccable tailoring heritage are combined with the subversive, irreverent influences of the country’s iconic youth subcultures.
Giving cohesiveness to the collection, disparate elements are blended together and unified by an intense research on materials and techniques.
Textures are at the core of the lineup. The brand’s iconic denim pieces are washed, coated, distressed, patched to obtain the same rich hands of traditional tailoring fabrics, such as tweeds, checks, tartans, houndstooth and Prince of Wales. These are worked for signature outerwear pieces, such as a Donegal tweed trench with denim details and industrial zippers.
Tartan wool pants with applied pockets and zips are over dyed to get a darker, faded effect. Their punkish attitude contrasts with the sartorial sensibility of a coat and a blazer layered over a utilitarian nylon zippered vest and a crispy checked shirt.
Military references run through the collection injecting a sense of strong, assertive masculinity into wool jackets and coats, embellished with patches, chains, safety pins for a customized look.
Traditional British school uniforms are re-interpreted through the collections’ signature irreverent lens. A rebellious attitude informs striped blazers and rugby sweatshirts, adding graphic tones to the the palette of black, blue, indigo, charcoal, sage, military green and red.

DIESEL BLACK GOLD SPRING SUMMER 2015 MEN’S COLLECTION – MILANO FASHION WEEK

Iconic menswear references are mixed to create a new context; a direct approach to dressing for Diesel Black Gold’s spring-summer 2015 collection.
The idiosyncratic look melds Diesel Black Gold’s core vocabulary. Tailoring is layered with sporty tracksuits, denim and corduroy, military jackets inspired by an officer’s uniform and motorcross style leather jackets. A street sensibility is created by familiar dress codes.
Coats and jackets come tailored in cool wool, a velvet tuxedo style or micro corduroy fabrications. An indigo denim jacket is bonded with leather. Tops are paired with relaxed fit tracksuit pants. Zipped sporty track tops with stripes are layered under narrow shouldered jackets or trench coats.
Motorcross style graphics are applied onto leather jackets in tonal white on white or multicolor, while other biker jackets feature graffiti style lettering. Military officer uniforms and their ornamental details inform cotton twill jackets, embellished with red piping, epaulets and metal buttons in the collection’s palette of navy, khaki and black.
Five pocket denim jeans are given a broken-in wash to their dark indigo, white and black tones. Corduroy pants in black, navy, khaki and white. Cold dyed to mélange effect, knits and T-shirts have a tactile, lived-in appearance and feel.
Cropped biker boots with buckles that zip at the heel, and other boots crafted from khaki suede have a worn-in finish. The sneaker is constructed with leather and suede and worn as a contrast to tailoring.
