DAKS FALL WINTER 2017-18 MEN’S COLLECTION – MILAN FASHION WEEK
The DAKS Autumn Winter 2017 collection paints the picture of a London that breathes ambition and talent. It’s a story of success that leaves the doors to the financial districts half-open for passers-by to get a glimpse into the lives of distinguished English bankers and dandy businessmen. DAKS are telling the story of a place where past and future meet, with a new take on classic British tailoring, a renowned feature of the brand.
This season, DAKS have collaborated with Fox Brothers to develop a ‘DAKS Club Flannel’ in an exclusive pinstripe design, synonymous with sartorial city style in Britain. This cloth is the focal point for this season’s collection and chalk stripes for suiting are a main focus. Another key textile this season is the houndstooth made from real Shetland wool, a sustainable fibre renowned for its long-standing quality. Key products include the three-piece suit and the wool coat; iconic DAKS pieces for a professional Londoner.
Prince of Wales and houndstooth, herringbone and pinstripes are shown in tones of grey melange, creating a wintery harmony that warms up the atmosphere. DAKS are reshaping the idea of classic tailoring by creating a range of exclusive new designs of jackets, trousers and overcoats in the most lavish of materials in collaboration with some of the most renowned suppliers in England.
Knitwear is created in 100% Shetland wool, dyed in deep tones of navy blue, black and classic greys. These colours also create the main palette for the DAKS A/W 2017 collection, displaying double-breasted jackets and slightly cropped trousers which show off socks in classic British patterns and prints.
Created in luxurious black brushed calf-skin and with subtle fabric-features, footwear, created in collaboration with Trickers, adds an extra feel of sophistication to the collection. Silver runs throughout, like a red thread of exclusive opulence, a symbol of light in the constant haze and rain of London. This translates into a range of silver detailed accessories and bags, creating subtle bursts of light through the collection.
Bags are created in an exquisite combination of black and blue, in addition to a special herringbone embossed design that recalls decorative textiles. The overall atmosphere is elegant and takes you on a journey through a modern, yet so recognisable London.

DAKS FALL WINTER 2016-17 MEN’S COLLECTION – MILAN FASHION WEEK
DAKS celebrates the elegance of the English evening for Autumn/Winter 2016/17. The classic dinner jacket and its variants are redesigned with an ironic and irreverent twist and produced in fabrics that have always been synonymous with English elegance.
Black velvet, evening satin and moiré give full expression to the dandy spirit of the collection, combined with georgette and chiffon that feature on shirts that are enhanced by a plastron either in ton sur ton or in contrasting materials or colors.
Knitwear is exquisite – in the best DAKS tradition: cashmere, alpaca and mohair serve as a precious canvas on which is painted a unique design, hand-fashioned by an Italian artist. There are touches of an abstract template that makes direct reference to the world of art.
As well as on knitwear this also features on overcoats – these too are hand-decorated – shirts, elegant silk dinner jackets and suede bags finished with detailing in plongé leather. The colour palette features bronze, rust – in various shades of brightness – and a hint of darker ochre which all combine with black.
Accessories have been created with a view to underlining, with gentle irony, the elegance of the collection: woollen hats with fur pom-poms, grosgrain ribbons and bows applied on the lapels of the jacket in the guise of flowers and elegant brooches that recreate through the light of their crystals the colours of the iconic DAKS house check.
The House Check that this very year celebrates its 40th birthday: DAKS revisits the check with the creation of the Anniversary Check, in a woollen mode and created expressly in England for this anniversary by a long-standing weaver, as well as in a variation in the more classic colour scheme.
The collection comes to life in a show set in an exclusive location and with a theatrical staging in which the models, with their dreamy ‘Brit’ look, are transformed into refined dandies.

DAKS SPRING SUMMER 2014 MEN’S COLLECTION – MILANO FASHION WEEK
The DAKS menswear collection for SS14 takes its inspiration from seaside holidays in the early 1930′s, at that time a pastime for the privileged few.
The collection reflects the style of the English gentleman, elegant both in mind and manners, leaving for an exclusive holiday resort. The clothing and luggage evoke an impeccably dressed gentleman, strolling along the shore in Deauville, or sitting on the balcony of the Hotel de Bains, amid the white flowering hydrangeas.
The colour palette is elegantly neutral, with white, black and grey dominating. A sophisticated shade of dusty green brings to mind the sea in the late afternoon on the beginning of summer and the appearance of the DAKS House Check endorses the British Heritage of the brand.
DAKS’ heritage is also referenced in the trouser styles which are either simple and slim or more ample, pleated and high waisted, evoking the “self support” trousers invented and patented by DAKS in 1934. Suiting features double-breasted, slightly longer lenght jackets, in white piquet or in fine grey and black English worsted wool.
Knitwear occupies an important place in the collection. Produced in fine fibres such as cashmere, ilk and cotton, it refers in a precise, detailed manner to the epoch of the collection.
Accessories also play an important part, particularly bags, which are produced in fine luxurious leather, as well as crocodile and ostrich. Ostrich also features in a classic take on a Mackintosh trench.
This season certain iconic garments are given an eccentric twist, such as a dinner suit made in white toweling which is worn casually and lightly on bare skin. The sophisticated Englishman does not make any concessions to himself or his look, unless is some slight hint calculated irony which always shows us the way to elegance.

DAKS FALL WINTER 2013-14 MEN’S COLLECTION – MILANO FASHION WEEK
DAKS returns to Milan for the second time showcasing the Autumn/Winter 2013 menswear collection under the creative direction of Filippo Scuffi.
The collection takes its main inspiration from a typical English gentleman of the early 1900s, secure in his style, whose look is refined, but with a dash of bohemian nonchalance.
The tailored garments reflect this period in history and create a dignified air, often long and with a wealth of detailing. Deep vents, box pleats and prominent stitching feature strongly in the collection, highlighting the design and structure of the garments. The trouser silhouettes are narrow, reflecting the British look, while a key tailoring item is a double breasted jacket with a broad lapels.
The color palette this season is based around shades of navy, dark brown and grey with flashes of mustard yellow as a highlight.
Classic English menswear fabrics feature heavily in their time honoured roles such as suits, jackets and trousers, but also form significant details in capes and cloaks.
Velvets and wools sourced from British suppliers are woven compactly which results in a smooth texture.
The DAKS House Check is present throughout this collection, and has been reworked in an oversized wool design this season.
Luxurious knitwear in 100 % cashmere plays an important role and, again, the taste is Bohemian, often teamed with scarves.
Leather also features prominently and is devised either as bonded leather or combined with a woolen House Check fabric.
The bags are large and sophisticated, in soft nappa and chamois. The three main colour tones on which the collection is built are clearly apparent, as well as variations in leather and House Check wool.
